Last Minute: Banxico announces a new 20-peso commemorative coin

A century after the arrival of the Mennonites in Mexico, the Bank of Mexico ( Banxico ) announced the release of a 20-peso commemorative coin .

The currency will be in circulation from this Monday, August 8, it must be accepted as a means of payment and belongs to the C1 family, the central bank reported.

What is known about the new 20 peso coin?

On the obverse of the coin, a Mennonite family can be seen in the center, with a railway to the left and a plowed field to the right.

The coin has the legend “One hundred years after the arrival of the Mennonites in Mexico.

The center of the coin is made of 65% copper, 10% nickel, and 25% zinc. It has a weight of 5.51 grams. The peripheral ring is made of bronze and aluminum: 92% copper, 6% aluminum and 2% nickel, and has a weight of 7.16 grams.

When does it hit the streets?

As of Monday, August 8, you can find it on the streets and you must accept it. This currency is valid to make any payment.
