Santander will finance 50 electric units of the Mexico City Metrobús.

The bank announced this Tuesday in a statement that it gave a loan to the Mexican company Movilidad Integral de Vanguardia (MIVSA), a subsidiary of Mobility ADO, to buy a fleet of buses that will run on Line 3 of the Metrobús. Details of the financing amount and terms were not provided.

“This financing combines the efforts of the public, private and banking sectors, for the renovation of these Metrobus units, whose fleet operated mostly with diesel, integrating 2,023 electric units,” the bank said in a statement.

The 50 new units that will be integrated into the Metrobús are developed by the Chinese company Yutong and will be 18 meters long, with a capacity for 160 passengers and an electric range of more than 300 kilometers, according to the bank.

The financing of electrical units is not the only business that the bank has done with Mexico City’s Metrobús. GetNet, owned by the bank, enabled the contactless payment service on lines 1,2,3 and 4 of this means of transport.

With this technology, Metrobús users can pay with contactless debit and credit cards, digital wallets and devices with NFC technology.
