A 30-year-old has to answer for attempted murder and dangerous bodily harm in court. He is said to have administered non-prescribed medication to hospital patients. Now he has been convicted.

Saarbrücken – A former nurse in Saarland has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the attempted murder of six patients and dangerous bodily harm.

In addition, the Saarbrücken district court imposed a lifelong ban on him from working as a nurse or for the rescue service on Thursday. The judges did not follow the prosecutor’s request for preventive detention. The defense had requested acquittal, the verdict is not yet final.

According to the court’s findings, the 30-year-old German administered non-prescribed medication to six patients in the SHG Clinic in Völklingen and the University Clinic Homburg in 2015 and 2016. According to the judges, he wanted to make a name for himself in resuscitation measures. He accepted the fact that people could die as a result.

Residues of corresponding preparations were found during the autopsy of corpses. Only two of the six affected patients survived the hospital stays. At the start of the trial in June 2021, the accused declared that he had not committed the offenses he was accused of. The complex investigations started in 2016 after he had pretended to be a doctor in other clinics. dpa
