Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro face each other in their first debate

One of the most anticipated moments in the electoral contests for the presidency in Brazil has arrived: the first face-to-face meeting of Lula da Silva and Jair Bolsonaro, the most popular candidates.

For three hours, the participants, including Ciro Gomes and Simone Tebet, will answer questions that began with questions about Petrobras from Bolsonaro to Da Silva.

“Contribute to strengthening the country's democracy,” said the former president upon arriving at the television studios, while the far-right president commented, “They are going to accuse me of everything you can imagine. We are not going to defend ourselves, we are going to show reality."

Until before the debate, the Datafolha Institute survey favored Da Silva with 47% of the intention to vote against 32% for Bolsonaro.
