Washington – It’s Christmas time in the White House: This year’s Christmas decorations were presented in the US government headquarters with 41 fir trees, numerous garlands, wreaths and tens of thousands of lights.
The motto of the decoration this year is “gifts that come from the heart”, as First Lady Jill Biden’s office announced on Monday.
You and President Joe Biden wished all Americans “happy, healthy, and happy holidays”. “May gifts that come from the heart light our way forward as we look forward to a new year full of opportunity,” said the first lady. The Christmas decorations on the building and in the White House were put up by more than 100 volunteers within a week.
On Thursday, the Bidens, as well as Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband Douglas Emhoff, will also ceremoniously switch on the lights of the “national Christmas tree”. The Christmas tree, an almost 100 year old tradition, is mostly located in Ellipse Park between the White House and the Washington Monument. It will also be open to the public from Saturday. dpa
