Marko makes fun of Aston Martin F1; steal and hope for success

Over the past year, Aston Martin’s top managers have changed many of their staff in the hope of turning the team around and building a much more competitive car.

One of the great examples of this recruitment is former Red Bull technical director Dan Fallows . Along with the aerodynamics specialist, other Red Bull or Mercedes employees left their respective structures to sign for Lawrence Stroll’s team.

However, judging by the results of the first races of the 2022 Formula 1 season, where they have only been able to score more points than Williams, those at Silverstone have not met their expectations and ambitions, making it clear that the arrivals of this staff ” key” has not had a direct impact on the performance of the car.

Analyzing the situation, Helmut Marko , the main advisor to Red Bull , one of the teams that was most affected by this “poaching” of Aston Martin , explained that this strategy was not the most suitable for achieving results, since beyond to hire renowned personnel, you need to have a well-laid plan that allows them to meet your expectations.

Speaking to F1 Insider , the Austrian veteran openly mocked Aston Martin , explaining that simply recruiting employees from other teams is not enough to succeed in a world as complicated as motorsport’s top flight.

“Formula 1 is still a team sport. Here you need to have a very strong collective cohesion and the right attitude at all times. That’s why we were able to keep key employees with us for quite some time, even though some attempts by Aston Martin’s idea of stealing from our people were finally successful. But there’s no point in just poaching the staff and then thinking that you’ve done it all.”

Despite the departure of some employees considered key in Red Bull , the Austrian team has shown during the start of 2022 that it is still one of the teams that can opt for victories and even titles, while Aston Martin has shown the opposite with an evident and alarming lack of performance in the single-seater in which they placed all their expectations due to the new regulatory change.
