Márquez, after two accidents: "Part of Fabio's fairing fell off"

Marc Márquez has not had his expected return. After three months off due to a fourth operation on his right shoulder, the Spaniard was involved in two accidents in just eight corners.

The #93 completed a very good start, climbing almost ten positions in a few meters. However, in turn three he suffered a small highside , and Fabio Quartararo, who was riding close to him, hit him from behind. The Frenchman suffered a violent fall, staying out of the race.

As a result of the impact, Marc was left with the exit device activated, and could not avoid another contact, this time at turn eight, with Takaaki Nakagami. That collision was especially spectacular, as the Japanese slid down the middle of the track and many units in the peloton had to go through the loophole to avoid it.

“It was unfortunate. In turn three I had a scare, and Fabio was very close to me because it was on the first lap,” explained the eight-time world champion to the DAZN microphones. .

“In turn 3 Bastianini and Aleix went wide, everyone braked and to avoid them is when I fell behind, I had to cut gas and Fabio was very close ready to overtake me and one mistake led to another” .

“When I noticed the contact with Fabio I already noticed something strange, but then, in turn 5 it seemed to me that everything was fine. However, in turn 7, when leaving, when I activated the rear height adjuster the bike locked up and started to to go to the left, because part of Fabio’s fairing had fitted on the right side. That made me go to the left. I feel bad for Taka and obviously for Fabio,” he concluded.

All three drivers have finished out of the race, which is a strong blow for the championship.
