Márquez: "Motegi may be a problem for the physique"

Motegi.- The Honda rider’s plan after announcing his reappearance at the Aragón weekend was to continue with his physical recovery and from the injury to his right arm on top of his bike. However, the Motorland race ended before the end of the first lap, at the fifth corner, for Marc Márquez, who had to retire after having two contacts, with Fabio Quartararo and Takaaki Nakagami, finishing all three out of the race.

The scenario was therefore favorable for Marc, since it was a left-hand circuit and one of his favourites, without extreme physical demands on his right arm. A situation that in Motegi will clearly change.

“Aragón was already being physically demanding for me, but Motegi, due to the characteristics of the track, will be the first high-stress test for the arm”, admitted Márquez.

“In Aragon I said that Sunday’s race was not going to be a problem for me on a physical level; Motegi may be,” he warned.

Despite being involved in a double accident at Motorland, both Quartararo and Nakagami have made it clear that, for them, both actions were an unfortunate set of races, but Marc has not stopped receiving questions about what happened.

“The crash in Aragon left me frustrated because I felt prepared, with the pace and speed to be in the battle. This weekend is important, among other things because this is our test circuit.”

On a physical level, Marc is recovering his natural riding skills, without having to change his body posture and his injured arm.

“In Aragón I had a worse time in the first session than in the second. My arm allows me to drive naturally in one lap, but I still have to gain strength to do it in the long runs.”

MotoGP hadn’t come to Japan for three years and the Honda rider took the opportunity to visit the manufacturer’s headquarters during the week.

“It was important to visit HRC to see what they are doing and to motivate them,” he said.

A motivation that Márquez hopes will take them on the right path to recover a winning bike.

“I’m not an engineer, I’m just a rider and like all riders I want a motorcycle that runs, that goes well, that brakes, that allows me to ride. I can give my comments and opinions, but it is the engineers who must decide what path Take. Because of the facilities it has, Honda has the potential to get back to the top,” he concluded.
