Márquez: "Why am I going to risk it if I'm going to continue being far away"

Marc Márquez said goodbye to the French Grand Prix from sixth place on the time sheet. During the seventh test of the year, the driver from Cervera starred in a double overtaking that positioned him ahead of Fabio Quartararo and his teammate in the satellite team, Takaaki Nakagami.

However, due to this situation and despite being satisfied with a good result in the French event, the #93 recognizes that the distance that separated him from the head (15 seconds behind the leader) was too much to risk more.

“When you are so far from those in front it is easy to make the decision because you say ‘why am I going to take a little more risk if I am going to continue being far away?’ attack and get closer”, explained the Honda rider about his way of managing the race.

“Hopefully that time will come, but now taking more risk means finishing ten seconds away instead of fifteen, but in the same position.”

One of the reasons that explains the cautious behavior of the eighth champion is the condition of his shoulder, which little by little has been improving.

“[The shoulder] is fine, as usual. In the preseason it was a little better and now it’s more stabilized.”

However, this limits the range of action of the driver from Cervera, who chooses not to take more risk than necessary in the race.

“I continue to manage my strength during the weekend, and when there is a scare like the Warm Up, the one that suffers is the arm, but in the race we have come out convinced, with desire, we have endured as much as we could and we have been able to finish sixth, which is not what we want, but it is what we have to do now”, concluded the man from Cervera for the DAZN microphones.
