Mars hides more secrets than we think: a Mass Effect 3 easter egg is revealed nine years after its launch

With the possibilities of being replayed and the myriad of users trying out different plots and options, it’s downright surprising that this happened so late. The arrival of Mass Effect Legendary Edition has marked the return to planet exploration in the definitive pack of BioWare works.

Now, Richard Boisvert, the studio’s former developer, has ended up revealing an easter egg that had been hidden for nine years . Through a post on Reddit he commented that “ten years ago I put an easter egg on the Mars mission in Mass Effect 3, and as far as I know, no one had noticed.”

What exactly is the easter egg? We will have to place ourselves at the beginning of the Mars mission and follow a path indicated by Boisvert around the solar panels. If we do everything properly, a little robot will appear , approach Shepard and surprise us with a greeting.

Although the person in charge has not explained the reason or the model of the robot, it is speculated that it could be one of the rovers launched in 2012 , when the original work was published. Specifically, it would be Opportunity.

The only thing Boisvert has missed is that someone already discovered the little robot last year. Using a mod to release the camera , this user ran into the machine, beyond the limits allowed for the player. Obviously, he did not know how to activate the sequence to be able to see it legally.

The truth is that quite a few developers recently shared the Easter eggs that they had hidden in their titles, but that had not yet been found. One of the best is being able to play TimeSplitters 2 within Homefront: The Revolution.
