Martín breaks the Sepang record; Bagnaia and Quartararo get into trouble

0

The Pramac runner rode below the record in the two attempts he made and ran as one of the firm candidates to win this Sunday.

Apart from the brawl over the race, the Malaysian Grand Prix is the first opportunity that Pecco Bagnaia has to resolve the World Championship in his favor and that of Ducati. However, the lack of skill and the unforced errors of the Italian and his team pose a scenario rather given that the matter must be resolved in Valencia, in two weeks.

The 14-point lead for the Turin native over Fabio Quartararo forces him to add 11 more than the Frenchman to celebrate the win here, on the same stage in which he was crowned in Moto2 (2018). These are many points if we take into account that he will start in ninth, three positions ahead of the Devil, who will do so in 12th.

Much later Enea Bastianini will do it, who stayed two tenths behind Martín but, in no case, could bother the Madrid native, a real howitzer in Sepang.

Marc Márquez will close the front row of the grid after revealing himself to the obvious shortcomings of his Honda, and looking for the formula (slipstream) that took him to third position.

Marco Bezzecchi will start fourth, alongside Alex Rins (fifth) and Luca Marini (sixth), while Franco Morbidelli (seventh), Maverick Viñales (eighth) and Bagnaia will form the third row.

After accidentally seeing each other in the first sieve of qualifying (Q1), the championship leader crashed on his last fast lap attempt in the final qualifying round (Q2), as soon as he had put on a set of new tires and when they were missing two and a half minutes to go.

Thus, the outcome of the contest is completely open, waiting for the incidence that, in addition, the rain that is expected to fall by the time the traffic lights go out may have.

Aleix Espargaró, for his part, will start tenth, also diminished by a crash in the last moments of Q2. Others who also went to the ground were Jack. Miller (14th) and Pol Espargaró (17th), this one triple.
