Martín: "I'm competitive despite the injury and I hope I can finish the race"

Martín suffered a terrifying crash at Portimao , missing the next three races after undergoing surgery for a triple operation.

This Friday he reappeared at the Catalunya Grand Prix and on his second day of work he admitted “having shoelaces everywhere”.

“It has been a positive day, we have improved almost a second on yesterday’s time. I’m in decent times, so I’m being competitive even with the injuries”, valued the Pramac-Ducati rider .

Martín was fifth in Q1 , three tenths from the cutoff, reaching the classification after suffering a crash in the fourth free practice.

“I had the crash in FP4 when I was testing something that was going well for us. In qualifying , with the change of the suit I got a little nervous, but it went well. I’m not the last”, as feared.

Now the important thing for the man from Madrid is to see if he can finish the race this Sunday.

“Tomorrow’s race is a training session to get sensations and try to finish doing as many laps as possible with a decent pace. The goal is to finish the race, especially for the team. It is better to be shooting on the track than watching it from home”, he said in reference to the possibility of not going out.

“I have a lot of soreness, I woke up super sore, I have time for the masseur this afternoon and I can’t wait for him to arrive,” he said with a laugh.

Jorge talked about the changes he was trying out when he went down.

“I can’t stabilize the bike, we have made a modification that we had planned for Portimao and that has gone well for us and we will surely leave it for the rest of the year because it allows us to have a more stable bike”.

“When we find the grip, the bike becomes nervous and moves a lot. What we are looking for is that it does not move because it is impossible to control it, even if we lose a little grip, more so with the injury. It is a small step that we have taken and it will help us in the following races”, settled Martinator .
