The Pramac-Ducati rider will undergo surgery this Monday to solve the problems that affect the nerves in his right hand and that have prevented him from driving normally for several weeks, as Motorsport.com has learned.

Martín will undergo surgery at the University Polyclinic Orthopedic Clinic in the Italian city of Modena, an intervention that will be carried out by Professor Fabio Catani , director of the Complex Structure of Orthopedics and Traumatology, AOU Modena, and the specialist surgeon in hand injuries Luigi Tarallo , a true eminence in the field, an intervention coordinated by Ducati, the brand with which the rider has a contract until the end of the season.

Martín began to feel discomfort in his right hand during the official test in Jerez, at the beginning of May, a situation that worsened in the French Grand Prix, where he ended up with a fall in the race when he completely lost sensation in his hand after suffering a nerve entrapment.

“My hand was numb and I couldn’t feel the brake lever, at the end of the curve I didn’t feel if I was braking enough, I went too far and I fell,” he explained after the race.

After that weekend, together with his team and Ducati, Martín made the decision to undergo surgery and do so after the double at Mugello, where he again suffered loss of sensitivity and was unable to ride normally, and Barcelona, this weekend.

Finally, the intervention will be this Monday, despite the fact that with this the rider will miss the important official MotoGP test that is held in Montmeló, however, the objective is to be as recovered as possible for the German Grand Prix, on the 17th. to June 19, so the doctors have considered that there is no time to lose in trying to reach the Sachsenring.
