From March 2022, Matthias Kernstock will be head of entertainment at the Ippen-Digital editorial network based in Munich. The former online boss of TAG24 coordinates the entertainment content of tz.de, merkur.de and other portals at Ippen Media.

Matthias Kernstock (Xing / Linkedin) has held various positions at Ippen-Digital. Before the native of Ansbach became part of the central editorial office in Munich, the trained radio journalist managed the online editorial department of tag24.de at the headquarters in Dresden. Matthias Kernstock was there when the tabloid portal was launched in 2014, initially as an editor.

After mopo24.de developed into the leading news portal in Saxony, editor-in-chief Robert Kuhne Kernstock handed over management of the team . After renaming to tag24.de, the portal developed into a Germany-wide brand with over 10 editorial offices, including in Hamburg, Berlin and Munich.

In 2017, Matthias Kernstock moved to the Ippen-Digital central editorial office in Munich under the leadership of Markus Knall and became head of text at merkur.de and tz.de. After a year, Matthias Kernstock took on a new project.

Matthias Kernstock developed extratipp.com into a reach portal

Kernstock, who is also a lecturer at the Academy of Bavarian Press, managed to turn the Hessian advertising paper “EXTRA TIPP” with around 170,000 visits per month (IVW) into an online portal with around 30 million visits per month within 24 months . First, extratipp.com reported on blue light alerts from Hesse, then expanded the portfolio to include celebrity and TV reporting under the leadership of Kernstock. Editor-in-chief Matthias Kernstock developed new narrative formats and, thanks to a number of experimental SEO innovations , achieved previously unattainable reach in local reports and online texts.
