Formula 1 touches down this weekend at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, the track that has hosted the United States Grand Prix since 2012.
Verstappen arrives there, after being crowned in Japan (not without controversy with the points system), as world champion 2022, and the Dutchman wanted to debut his double crown with a change of helmet for the American event.
Precisely a nod to the local country makes Max Verstappen in his new design, where on a white base he has combined blue and red to add the stars and stripes that star in the United States flag.
In addition to the brand of the helmet, the sponsors of Red Bull and the logo of the energy drink brand itself, the model that the two-time champion will wear has the traditional lion.
In addition to a new helmet design, Red Bull, as it has done in other races, has also released a special clothing collection for the United States GP under the name “Unleash The Lion “, a motto that they use with Verstappen. The collection, which includes t-shirts, shirts and sweatshirts, can be seen here.
Regarding the helmet, since Formula 1 removed the ban on changing the design several times a season, we have seen numerous specials this year. Max Verstappen, for example, changed his usual white design for one with chroma details for the Austrian GP.
In Miami, he switched to black for a helmet design that his fans loved, although the one he liked the most was the one he used in his home race, at the Dutch GP, where he paid tribute to his father Jos with a similar design the one he had during his time in Formula 1 .
At the moment, on Verstappen’s helmet for the United States there is no reference to his second drivers’ title, so we will have to wait to see if at some point in the remainder of the world championship he wears the gold of the champion.
What Max will keep, after having opted for that choice in 2022, is the number 1 that whoever wins the World Cup the previous year has the right to wear.
