Daniil Medvedev was once again booed by the Rod Laver Arena crowd after winning his quarterfinal match against Auger-Aliassime . The Russian tennis player, who was already whistled after beating Australian Nick Kyrgios in the second round, remembered Novak Djokovic , deported from Australia for not being vaccinated, during the post-match interview on the court.

The number two in the world lifted two sets against to get the victory and get into the semifinals. Asked by Jim Courier what the key to the comeback was, Medvedev revealed his strategy: "I don't know if people will like the answer, but I told myself what Djokovic would do and how he would deal with that situation."

The whistles were immediately unleashed from the stands and, upon hearing them, the Russian recoiled and assured that he wondered what "any of the great champions like Novak, Nadal or Federer would do because they have won a lot of matches of these characteristics." The sincerity of the Muscovite did not like the fans at all, who whistled at him again after remembering the number one in the world.

Daniil suffered more than necessary to get into the semifinals of the 2022 Australian Open where he will face Tsitsipas again, whom he defeated in three sets last year and got into the final.
