Meghan Markle continues her podcast Archetypes. In it, she recalls the bare facts of a Korean spa. Visiting with mother Doria was a “humiliating” moment.

MONTECITO – Meghan Markle, 41, has returned to her Spotify podcast Archetypes after a four-week hiatus. On the subject of “Demystification of Dragon Lady” (Eng.: “Disenchantment of the Dragon Lady”), she gives insights into her Asian-influenced childhood in conversation with journalist Lisa Ling (49) and comedian Margaret Cho (53) and reports on a visit to the Korean Naked spa, which apparently keeps her busy to this day.

Meghan Markle reflects on ’embarrassment’ at nude spa on podcast

“It’s a very humbling experience for a girl going through puberty. Because you walk into a room with women ranging in age from nine to maybe 90 all walking around naked waiting to get a body scrub on one of these tables all lined up.” Totally embarrassing for Meghan.

“All I wanted was a swimsuit!” she reports, before returning to the Asian stereotype of the “femme fatele” – beautiful but deadly – as a popular film element. If you are wondering how the Duchess of Sussex relates to Asian culture, you will find what you are looking for in Los Angeles when she was young. There she encountered a wide variety of cultures “that you could see, feel, hear and taste every day”. A fascinating experience that has obviously enriched her.

Personal anecdotes are the spice of Meghan Markle’s podcast concept

She loves getting to know other cultures, assures Prince Harry’s wife (38). But the spa experience with mother Doria Ragland (66) only has a positive touch because the single mother apparently superimposed the embarrassment of her daughter with a “steaming bowl of delicious noodles”. “As soon as I got over that adolescent awkwardness, my mom and I went upstairs, sat in a room, and we ate.”

As bittersweet as the experience report seems, the reactions to the podcast venture of the mother of two are also divided. As soon as it hit the market, voices emerged claiming the spa story was borrowed from the Netflix series Big Mouth, which explores the wonders and horrors of puberty. Meghan’s claim is far more serious. She wants to “investigate, dissect and subvert labels that try to hold women back,” according to the Spotify series announcement.
