Mercedes confirms that it has passed the crash test in its 2022 F1

The Mercedes team reported that its new car for the 2022 Formula 1 season, the W13 , passed the FIA crash test on January 13. In this way, the German team denies the rumors that suggested that they should repeat this crash test on the side of the car.

The world champion team will present its weapon to repeat with a regulation that will completely modify the Grand Circus on February 18, and they wanted to confirm that the German car received the homologation of the highest body, necessary to roll on the track.

According to the statement, they reported that the procedures to pass the crash test were slightly modified for this campaign: “You may have seen some stories that have circulated this weekend about the homologation of our car.”

“Just to be clear, the W13 completed the process by the FIA on January 13, 2022,” Mercedes explained. “The relevant procedures for this (which have changed slightly for this season, including a reinforced lateral test) are set out in article 13 of the 2022 Technical Regulations.”

For this reason, the team that has won all the constructors’ championships in the hybrid era will be able to defend its crown from next March 20 at the Bahrain Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton, who has already made his first public appearance since lost the race in Abu Dhabi to the detriment of Max Verstappen, and George Russell, who will make his debut as a full-time driver with the Brackley team.

“Luckily we’re not superstitious about these things, huh?” The statement ended in a humorous tone as a reference to number 13 of the article in which said rule appears.

To this we must add a tweet that they published in which they said that they will show their car very soon, and in which a first photograph of the vehicle appeared with the plate on which the name of the chassis appeared.

Mercedes will be in the 2022 pre-season tests at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya starting on February 23, and will try to fine-tune the new W13 to achieve the feat that no team did, winning the title nine times in a row.
