Mexico creates 10,726 formal jobs in July: its worst third month of the year

In July, Mexico registered one of the lowest months in the creation of employment with social security, registering 10,726 new positions with the Mexican Institute of Social Security ( IMSS ).

This is the third worst month for job creation, according to official data released this Friday. July job creation was 82% lower than last May and 91% lower than July 2021.

So far this year, Mexico has created a total of 459,286 new jobs with an average salary of 485.4 pesos. Data from the Bank of Mexico (Banxico) estimate that in 2022 between 490,000 and 690,000 places will be created.

In total, there are 21.07 million Mexicans registered in the IMSS, of which 86.8% are permanent positions and 13.2% are temporary positions.

While Tabasco, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo and Hidalgo had double-digit employment growth, Sinaloa reported a 0.6% contraction in employment.

By industries, Transportation and Communications had a growth of 9.3% while industries such as construction and Transformation had an increase of 4.9% and 4.3%, respectively.
