Michael Schumacher's Benetton B192 goes up for auction

The Tour Auto is a historic competition that brings together vintage vehicles to cross France. The 2022 edition will take place from April 25 to 30 and, this year, the cars that will be part of the race with those that correspond to the post-war period until the oil crisis, more specifically from 1951 to 1973.

For five days, the various teams will tour the French territory with their vehicles. They will start in Paris and visit some of the most famous places in French motor sport, such as Le Mans , Nogaro or Pau, until the end of the tour in Andorra.

With 14 special stages on closed roads and three sessions on circuits, the 250 teams will drive their Ferraris, Jaguars and other major brands over more than 2,000 kilometres, divided into five days of driving. What was once the Automobile Tour de France will celebrate this year its 31st edition of its second generation.

But the competition will also liven up with an exceptional auction, which will take place on April 24, that is, the day before the start, and which will take place in the Parc des Expositions de la Porte de Versailles, in the French capital. The Aguttes auction house will offer a collection of legendary and historical models.

The highlight will undoubtedly be Michael Schumacher ‘s Benetton B192 , which he drove in 1992, his first full season in Formula 1. The seven-time champion achieved two podium finishes with this particular chassis, in Germany and Italy, in one season in which achieved eight podiums, one victory and finished third in the world championship.

But this Formula 1 will not be the only piece on offer. Among the other cars, a Talbot T26 Grand Sport (which was part of the 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours), a 1959 Lotus Eleven S2 (which participated in the Tour de France Automobile), a Ford Sierra Cosworth Factory Group A (1987 French Rally Champion), a 2005 Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster LP 580 , and a Peugeot 206 WRC . An exceptional collection that cannot be lost.

The auction will also include luxury watches and spirits. Pavilion 6 of the Exhibition Park will open its doors on the afternoon of Sunday, April 24, with an exhibition of the cars participating in the 2022 Tour Auto.
