According to Timo Berger, the divorce from Claudia Norberg should not have been final at all. “What interested the American authorities was the fact that the divorce with Claudia did not take place. And we can’t get the papers to prove it. But I know that it is like that, ”says Timo Berger according to OK! recently reported on Instagram.

But would it even be possible under American law that Michael Wendler could already have married his Laura Müller without actually having been officially divorced beforehand? One answer is provided by an information brochure from the Federal Administration Office about weddings of German citizens in Florida.
The information brochure lists the documents that Germans wishing to marry must show when getting married in the US state of Florida. Among other things, a valid passport and the birth certificate are listed, but also – in the case of a premarital marriage – information about the previous divorce.
This information can be found: “In the case of a premarital marriage, the exact date of the termination of the marriage must be given. (…) The information must be confirmed in writing and in lieu of an oath. Only in the event that the marriage license is applied for within 30 days of the termination of the previous marriage, an officially translated divorce decree or a death certificate is also required. “

Means: Theoretically, it may be possible to get married again in the USA – without first having been legally divorced. According to the Federal Administration Office, confirmation of the official divorce decree only needs to be presented if the so-called marriage license is applied for within 30 days of the end of the previous marriage.
Michael Wendler and Laura Müller did not get married until June 19, 2020, while the divorce from Claudia Norberg is said to have already taken place on May 13, 2020.

Laura Müller and Michael Wendler: No response to Timo Berger’s allegations
If the pop singer actually made an untrue affidavit when he married Laura Müller, this could have consequences, at least under German law. According to Section 156 of the Criminal Code (StGB), in Germany there is a risk of a fine or a prison sentence of up to three years.
