Miller rules in the FP1 of Japan MotoGP ahead of Bagnaia

0

Motegi – Jack Miller was one of the most consistent throughout the hour and a quarter that the first training session lasted , in which the threat of rain was a constant even though it never fell forcefully. The Ducati rider was 28 thousandths ahead of Pecco Bagnaia, his neighbor in the official workshop of the Borgo Panigale brand, and 49 thousandths ahead of Fabio Quartararo, the third.

Aleix Espargaró, third in contention for the World Championship – he is three points behind Bagnaia and 17 behind Quartararo –, finished with the fourth fastest lap, just ahead of Luca Marini (fifth), the third Desmosedici among the first five bikes.

Marc Márquez, one of the fastest in that practice, finished sixth, a tenth and a half behind Miller and only 22 thousandths behind Pol Espargaró, his teammate in the HRC factory team.

Brad Binder was the eighth, while Miguel Oliveira (ninth) and Maverick Viñales (tenth), closed a very tight top ten, with all its members involved in a fist of less than three tenths.

That is the cut of the group of runners who provisionally have their place in the second qualifying selection. The rains that predict the forecasts for this Saturday will make it difficult for anyone to change those positions with a view to the two heats that will configure the grid on Sunday.

Enea Bastianini, winner of the last test, last week in Aragón, suffered a crash on her last fast lap attempt that left her 14th, less than half a second off the lead.
