Miller: "Whether Ducati was right or wrong with me and Bagnaia will be seen at the end of the year"

After the first nine stops on the calendar, the numbers validate the renewal that promoted the Borgo Panigale brand with a view to 2021, the year in which it promoted Miller and Pecco Bagnaia, who until then shared the Pramac workshop, and dispensed with Dovizioso and Petrucci .

Bagnaia occupies third place in the general table, with 109 points, 13 more than Dovizioso, who was also third, at this same point last year. However, the main difference lies in the ‘second’ driver: while Miller is fifth, with only nine points less than his teammate, Petrucci was tenth, with only 51, almost half of those that Dovizioso had.

Between Miller and Bagnaia they have been able to achieve two wins, both for the Australian (Jerez and Le Mans), and have been on the podium six times. Petrucci and Dovi also won twice (Austria and Le Mans), but managed to get half the podium finishes (three).

What happens is that the difference of the Ducati pair with respect to the head of the championship is considerably greater now than last season: Bagnaia currently has 47 points less than the leader (Fabio Quartararo), and Miller 56 less. In 2020, Dovi was only separated by 18 points from the first (also Quartararo), a circumstance that reflects the equality that prevailed then and that has now been somewhat diluted in favor of the Devil , who He has one more victory (four) and three more podiums (six) than then (three and three, respectively).

The swerve given by the leadership of the Bologna constructor in terms of sports policy seems to momentarily prove right to those who promoted it, even though Miller is not satisfied, and believes that the fairest thing is to wait for the World Cup to end, before doing any reading.

“I think we have shown that Ducati was right with me and Pecco. I think [Ducati] has indications that this is so. But, if they were right or not, that will be seen at the end of the year. Then there will be people looking at the situation under a microscope and telling me I could have done this or that better,” Miller told Motorsport.com this week, during a break from testing at Montmeló.

“Anyway, the decision was made by them. Pecco has been very consistent, and I’m giving it my all”, the Townsville riveted.
