Miller wins a MotoGP Japan GP with Bagnaia crashing

Motegi.- The victory of the Australian, the first for him since winning the 2021 French Grand Prix, is the sixth that Ducati has chained and the eleventh so far this year for the Italian brand, a figure that equals his absolute record, dating from 2007, the year Casey Stoner was crowned world champion. Miller was accompanied on the podium by Brad Binder and Jorge Martín, while Marc Márquez crossed the finish line in fourth.

It will surely be more difficult than Stoner for Pecco Bagnaia, who made a tremendous mistake on the last lap, in an overtaking maneuver in which he had doubts when he overtook Fabio Quartararo (eighth), when both were circulating in the peloton. The Italian lost the front end of his Ducati after going from less to more, in a fall that leaves him 18 points behind the Devil in the general table when there are only one hundred at stake from now until the championship puts the lock on Valencia.

As or more upset than Bagnaia was Aleix Espargaró, who was forced to change bikes in extremis due to a presumably electronic failure on his Aprilia, and to start from the pit lane. The eldest of the brothers from Granollers (Barcelona) crossed the finish line in 16th, one step away from the podium positions, and will arrive in Thailand next week, one test away (25 points) from Quartararo.

In the middle group, Miguel Oliveira finished fifth after failing to hold the last kidney shot from Márquez, while Luca Marini finished sixth. Maverick Viñales was seventh, ahead of the Devil, Enea Bastianini (ninth) and Marco Bezzecchi, who closed the top ten.
