Franco Morbidelli will have to serve a penalty in the MotoGP Malaysian Grand Prix race. The Yamaha rider upset several riders during Saturday’s morning FP3 ; specifically, and according to the sanction record, Pecco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez.

However, the Italian-Brazilian also hindered the return of his teammate , Fabio Quartararo, who did not hesitate to reproach him for his action on the track. The panel of stewards, however, have avoided that incident.

Morbidelli stayed on the line, running at a reduced speed, at the exit of turn five, forcing the #63 and #93 to abort their laps.

In addition, the stewards have wanted to record that it is the third time that he has carried out an action of this style , and they understand that it generated a dangerous situation.

That is why Franco Morbidelli will have to complete a double long lap in tomorrow’s race in Sepang. But it will not be the only sanctioned MotoGP name. Miguel Oliveira will lose three positions on the starting grid and, in addition, he will have to complete a long lap , after disturbing other drivers in the last Australian Grand Prix.

Pol Espargaró will also serve a penalty on Sunday , after having received a punishment of three grid places on Friday for returning to the track in a dangerous way, in an incident that Johann Zarco described as “criminal”.

The sanction comes on a weekend that was proving to be very positive for the second official Yamaha rider , who was regularly in the top ten and had a direct pass to Q2 assured.
