Morocco once again suspends Operation Crossing the Strait from Spain

The Government of Morocco has announced this Sunday that it will not accept transfers from Spanish ports in what is known as Operation Paso del Estrecho (OPE). Thus, the executive on the other side of the Strait of Gibraltar has once again excluded Spanish ports from the sea voyages that this summer will connect the country with Europe in the OPE, which they refer to as Operation Marhaba. However, and as it also did the previous year, it will allow the arrival of some ships from France and Italy and always with double PCR to detect possible coronavirus infections.

A government statement issued on Sunday afternoon specified that the return of Moroccan emigrants will be made exclusively "from the same transit ports as last year", that is, with ships from the French ports of Marseille and Sète , in addition to the Italian from Genoa . "Operation Marhaba (Hello) 2021 will be carried out from the same maritime transit points as last year," the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in the statement.

The passengers of these ships will have to present a PCR test before boarding and carry out another one on board , according to the statement, which means that there will be some type of infrastructure within each ship, almost certainly rapid test kits. "In addition to the PCR test presented on boarding, travelers will undergo another test on board to ensure maximum health security for themselves and their loved ones," the Moroccan Government stressed.
