The Austrian manufacturer KTM needed almost 17 years to achieve 100 victories in the Motorcycle World Championship. The first came from the hand of the legendary Casey Stoner, who won the 125cc race in Malaysia on an orange motorcycle in 2004. Since then, a total of 27 riders have shared the victories until reaching 110, with which Miguel Oliveira added at the Portuguese GP.
Until 2020, all the victories of the Mattighofen house had been achieved in the training categories, from 125 and 250cc to the current Moto3 and Moto2. KTM’s debut in MotoGP came in 2017, and at the last Czech GP Brad Binder was in charge of stepping on the top step of the podium for the first time.
KTM has always rewarded its most successful riders well. The South African is the one who has led the orange bikes to victory the most times, a total of 17, achieving the ‘prize’ of making the leap to the official MotoGP team.
Oliveira, with 14 victories, also received the prize of jumping to the MotoGP team in the Red Bull Tech3 KTM and in 2021 he did it in the official one.
Behind them, Mika Kallio, with 12 wins, has been almost always a factory employee ever since, now in the role of test driver.
One of the names that will always be in the history of the brand and in the memory of all fans, without a doubt, is that of Luis Salom. The Mexican won up to seven races for the brand.
In addition to victories, Sandro Cortese (2012), Maverick Viñales (2013), Brad Binder (2016), Albert Arenas (2020) and Pedro Acosta (2021) took the Moto3 championship on the back of a KTM.
In the following gallery you can see all the riders who have won with a KTM and how many times they did it.
