Despite his stellar performance last Sunday at the Aragón Grand Prix , where he tried seven times to overtake Pecco Bagnaia in the last three laps to finish second back on the podium, Marc Márquez admitted this Thursday that in Misano “we will return to our situation usual”, in terms of not knowing if he will feel better or worse from his injury.
On Sunday, at Motorland , Marc said that they were thinking about what to do to finish solving his physical problems and they asked him this Thursday if a fourth surgical intervention could enter into those thoughts.
“No, for the moment the plan is to try to understand how to improve on the last few races. After Austin we have a bit of margin and we will try to work at home to take a step forward. Now I have to rest three days after each grand prix and I don’t have much time to train for the next one. The ‘plan A’ is to work on myself”, ruled out, for the moment, a new operation of Honda .
Marc does not want to create great expectations after the great performance of last Sunday
“ Aragón was a great weekend, we returned to the podium and that has given us additional motivation. But in Misano we will return to our usual situation, which is not far from that of the leading drivers, but it is not the one that allows me to drive the way I want. In FP1 we will understand a little better how the weekend is going to go”, he argued.
For the Honda rider, having fun on the bike is vital in order to develop his full potential.
“Now I am competing, I try to give my best and raise my level, but I am not enjoying it. It is true that a couple of laps or in a curve I do have fun, but when you feel pain you don’t have a good time. I’m starting in a few moments, but the goal is to fully enjoy driving again”, he resigned himself.
After the grand prix, Misano will host a test on Tuesday and Wednesday that can help Honda improve the bike.
“In the test we will introduce new ideas and elements for next season, but it is a prototype bike that is constantly evolving. You have to work on the bike, but also on my skills and my riding. It is necessary to manage not to have any difficulty in the three aspects”, settled the one from Cervera .
