MotoGP – Martín: “Being next to Márquez will not change my start”

Alcañiz.- With the memory of the Silverstone race still fresh, where Marc Márquez crashed trying to overtake Jorge Martín on the first lap of the race, taking him ahead, this Saturday both drivers qualified fourth and fifth on the grid start of the Aragon Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend at Motorland.

Both will start from the second row of the grid and will arrive glued to the first braking, something that, however, does not change the way of facing this complicated moment for the Pramac-Ducati .

“I’m not going to think about that tomorrow, when I’m on the grid I’ll just think about doing my best. We have to study well where to go, whether inside or outside the line, and not get into trouble. If I enter the race aggressively I will try to get a couple of riders out of the front, so I will be aggressive in the first corners”, explained Martín this Saturday at Motorland.

“We are in MotoGP and we have to find a place, because if not in this category where the best riders in the world are, they will eat you up”, he pointed out.

Martín, who has four pole positions this year, had a good run with the first tire in Q2, but with the second he couldn’t close a good lap, so he will finally start fifth.

“I look strong, but the four riders in front of me also look very strong. I don’t see myself far from the official Ducati (Bagnaia and Miller), but I think Marc and Fabio (Quartararo) have a little more”, in reference to the race pace.

“I don’t think it’s an easy track to get away from, what worries me the most is the tyres. It will be difficult to choose well, both for the front and the rear,” he warned.

In that sense, Martín explained that two of the Michelin compounds could be valid to complete the race.

“I rule out the soft rear rubber, but it is difficult to choose between medium and hard. If we go in a group we can have overheating problems with the average, while in Austria I ran with the hard one and I felt fine, so it could be a good option”, settled the one from San Sebastian de los Reyes (Madrid).
