MotoGP – Martín "frustrated" after losing pole position in Thailand

The Pramac driver was already the fastest in FP3 in the morning and started Q2 with the pole position of the Thai Grand Prix between his eyebrows, in fact the Madrid driver placed first halfway through the session breaking the record for the track but, surprisingly, Marco Bezzecchi closed an impressive run to place first (1.29.671) that Martín attacked twice, improving his own time, but failing to regain the first position by a breath (1.29.692).

With this new front row, Jorge Martín recovers his best feelings that he already started working on at the Japanese Grand Prix last week.

“We have a good base, we already had it at the beginning of the season, but I don’t know why we lost it and in Japan we recovered it”, explained Martín.

“I feel comfortable, I have very good speed and I am always in the top five in every practice session, which is what we want”, added the man from Pramac.

However, Martin’s happiness was not complete with this second place on the grid.

“I’m a bit frustrated because I wanted this pole position, we finished three laps in record time and I hope I can improve a bit in the warm up tomorrow to better prepare for the race,” he said.

“The objective is to be ahead in the race, when you follow someone everything heats up a lot, I hope to be able to keep the pace leading and shoot to see where we are at the end”, he explained his intentions.

Despite the extremely hot conditions, the Spaniard is more worried about the tyres.

“It depends more on the rubber than on physical condition, it’s hot and humid but physically this circuit is not demanding,” he said.

“We must choose the race tire well and control consumption, at the moment I have not made the decision between the medium and the soft”, settled the boy from San Sebastián de los Reyes.
