MotoGP – New red flag for rain in Malaysia in Moto2

0

The rain does not stop harassing the MotoGP paddock and made an appearance at the Malaysian Grand Prix earlier than expected.

The weather forecast for this weekend predicted a Friday day marked by cloudiness, but heavy rainfall was not expected until Saturday.

However, in Moto2 FP2 , torrential rain forced the session to be stopped, waving the red flags halfway through training.

The intermediate class drivers are already getting used to these situations, as it is the fourth red flag they have faced in the last four grands prix (the third due to rain). In Japan they saw how the second qualifying training was paralyzed; and in Thailand the race was finished before having reached two thirds of the scheduled laps, both due to rain; and in Australia the presence of animals on the track forced Q2 to be stopped.

In addition to being totally sold on the weather, the amount of light is beginning to be a problem, since the sunset is getting earlier and earlier and the high amount of clouds darken the environment.

Finally the rain subsided, and after waiting for the most flooded areas to dry, the session was able to resume. By then, the drivers had already been in their boxes for an hour, and returned to the track at 9:35 am (Spanish peninsular time), with 21 minutes of training ahead of them. The MotoGP session has inevitably had to be postponed, and will start at 10:10 a.m. (Spanish peninsular time).

The future doesn’t seem to bode well either, and today’s could be the first of several red flags throughout the weekend . It is known that a stormy episode will arrive on Saturday, with a certain electrical device, and it seems almost certain that Sunday’s races (at least the MotoGP one) will be held in the wet.
