MotoGP – Pol Espargaró: "Without grip I feel trapped"

Alcañiz.- The worst thing about finishing the MotoGP Aragon Grand Prix crossing the finish line in 13th place, almost 20 seconds behind the winner, is doing it 19 seconds behind the second classified and that he is your teammate, with the same bike.

For Pol Espargaró, who arrived at Motorland after completing his best weekend since joining Honda at Silverstone, the worst thing about this weekend is seeing that, depending on the circumstances, he cannot control the RC213V , but that in the same conditions his partner, Marc Márquez, is capable of fighting for victory in a spectacular fight.

For the rider from Granollers (Barcelona), the Aragón race is another stage in his learning about the Honda.

“Yes, without a doubt, I am being faster over one lap on soft rubber and grip in the time attack . That’s good because before I fell and now I do it alone and finish good laps, but with little grip it’s always been a problem for me”, said the Catalan after a race in which the high temperatures reduced the grip on the track.

“In order to ride I need to have a bit of grip, especially at lean angle. It already happened to me at KTM that with high temperatures I suffered more than the others and it was difficult for me”.

Espargaró did not want to apologize and admitted that he was not up to what the race required.

“It has been seen today that he was not at the level. In these conditions the bike does not give me what I need. They are very complicated conditions because the bike seems to float all the time, and in those conditions I don’t know how to react”, he admitted.

“When these issues come up I feel a bit stuck and I get into a loop of errors, misses, going a little too far, my front steering locks up, I lose rear traction going in and out of the corner and I don’t really know how. act in these situations, but even so there is no other way. Marc has had a very good race. We have good data to analyze, look at and we will try to do better next weekend”, settled.
