Alcañiz.- So far, the Spaniard’s first Grand Prix weekend as a driver for the Noale brand has been very placid, based on going around and around and without any mishap or crash.
Viñales continues his period of adaptation to the RS-GP , and although his improvement has been evident since the first practice on Friday, the Catalan wants to get closer and do it soon. In the first qualifying round, he finished ninth, just four tenths behind the fastest (Zarco) and the direct pass to the second round (Q2).
His record allowed him to beat Alex Rins and Valentino Rossi, as well as Jake Dixon. Given the circumstances and the little room for adaptation that he has had so far, the balance made by the boy from Roses (Girona) is obviously positive.
“I am happy, although obviously I still have to continue working to find the good line [drawn]. It is important to go around a lot, gather information to get closer to it”, Viñales summed up.
“We started the grand prix at two seconds and now we are at eight tenths. The progression has been fantastic. I need time and work hard, understand how to achieve time. This bike is made for a very different riding style than the one I was used to using [with Yamaha ]”, added the #12 , much more satisfied with his performance in long runs than in a fast turn.
“Everything I do on the fast lap, I do it wrong. But there is a lot of margin, because, in addition, this is not the best circuit to understand the bike. Today was the first time I tried the hard rubber in about two years”, continued Viñales, who does not want to set any specific goal for this Sunday, beyond continuing to accumulate kilometers.
“For the race I don’t think about anything more than to get a good race pace and understand what I have to do to take another step forward to Misano ”, closed the brand new signing of Aprilia .
