This entourage will be led by Carmelo Ezpeleta , CEO of Dorna, and his son Carlos, current Sports Director of the championship, and both will meet with the country’s authorities, who have been searching for months for the formula to host a MotoGP World Championship event.

The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) revealed that since June it has been working to host a MotoGP and a Formula E event .

On Friday, several local media reported that this possibility could take shape as early as 2023, even though the most realistic option points to the 2024 calendar. The facility that has the most numbers to host the grand prix is the Buddh International Circuit ( BIC), just outside of Delhi. In fact, Dorna has been looking to land in India for a decade now, since the World Superbikes scheduled a race there that was finally canceled due to operational issues.

However, unlike the three Formula 1 races held in India between 2011 and 2013, the promoter of the MotoGP race would not be Buddh circuit owner Jaypee Group , mired in great instability.

Although it was built primarily as a Formula 1 track , the BIC was designed with the possibility of motorcycle racing there in mind.

If the plan goes through, India will be the last country from the southern half of Asia to join the MotoGP map after Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
