Buriram.- The Frenchman surpassed by three tenths the record that placed Marc Márquez at the head of the classification in the morning, and was 18 thousandths ahead of Pecco Bagnaia, the second fastest, who after a complicated weekend in Motegi seems to have recovered its best version in Buriram.

Jorge Martín, a teammate of Johann Zarco and who got back on the podium in Motegi, finished third, less than two tenths behind his neighbor in the Pramac team workshop.

Luca Marini was the fourth Ducati rider to place in the top four positions, ahead of Miguel Oliveira, the first KTM representative.

Márquez finished sixth, even though he could not beat the time he signed for in the morning, while Aleix Espargaró, seventh, was unable to get into the group of runners who, provisionally, have earned a pass to the second qualifying selection (Q2).

Fabio Quartararo finished eighth, while Enea Bastianini finished ninth and Marco Bezzecchi closed the top ten. Both the Beast and Maverick Viñales will have to try to get into Q2 this Saturday morning, although the weather instability in the area may prevent them from doing so if it rains.
