Mysterious case – dead people identified after house explosion

0

The explosion of a semi-detached house in Upper Bavaria is still a mystery. One thing is certain: the dead person in the house is the missing resident. However, there are still many unanswered questions.

Rohrbach an der Ilm – A deafening bang, then a house collapses, later the police find a dead woman among the rubble. It is now clear that this is a 54-year-old who lived with her husband on the ground floor of the semi-detached house in Rohrbach an der Ilm.

But whether it is the 55-year-old who died in a fatal accident shortly after the explosion in a car, the autopsy has not yet been able to clarify because of the severe burns. The case remains a mystery.

The investigators want to try to identify the male corpse with the help of a DNA comparison. “That has priority now,” said police spokesman Karl Höpfl on Saturday in Ingolstadt. The police are hoping for further starting points to clarify the cause of the explosion in the semi-detached house in Rohrbach an der Ilm (Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm district) on Thursday and the connections with the fatal accident shortly afterwards and a fire in an empty apartment in Saxony .

“How it came about, what the background is, that must be revealed by the further investigations,” said Höpfl. He could not confirm speculations about a possible act of relationship. “From our point of view, this is still completely open.”

For this reason, the police do not want to comment on how the 54-year-old died – i.e. whether she died in the explosion or was previously dead. Because that could be perpetrator knowledge, should other people be involved in the story.

It is now known: The car in which a man burned beyond recognition in the accident in Schrobenhausen, 30 kilometers away, was reported to the address of the collapsed house in Rohrbach an der Ilm. The driver had crashed his car head-on against an oncoming truck. And the apartment that was on fire in Lugau, Saxony, also belonged to the couple.

Investigators discovered gas bottles both in the car and in the house. According to media reports, they also found a gas cylinder and several canisters with flammable liquid in the fire in Lugau. The police in Chemnitz did not comment on Saturday, not even on a possible arson reported by the media. According to the police in Chemnitz, the fire broke out in the attic. There were no injuries in the apartment building.

According to Höpfl, the investigation into the explosion will continue into the next week. Fire specialists had looked for traces at the scene of the accident and are evaluating them. The devastating force of the explosion made their work difficult because it destroyed a lot, said Höpfl.

For hours on Thursday and Friday, the emergency services had to clear rubble and debris to finally be able to recover the corpse of the woman and the family dog. The adjacent semi-detached house was also badly damaged and had to be demolished in the meantime. The two residents were only slightly injured. The three people who lived on the first floor of the collapsed house were also lucky: They weren’t home at the time of the explosion. dpa
