The device, dubbed the T5000 , has been developed by the ThruVision company in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA), and uses “passive imaging technology” to identify the natural electromagnetic rays emitted by objects, known as T-rays . This same technology is used by astronomers to study stars. Its most immediate application will be in airports, train stations and sporting events.
According to its creators, although the T5000 camera can “see” through tissue, it does not reveal people’s physical details or subject them to any “harmful radiation”, such as that associated with security systems that use X-rays.
