Berlin – The police have been taking action nationwide against a suspected smuggler gang since early Wednesday morning. Federal police and customs searched numerous apartments and companies, the focus is on Berlin and Brandenburg, said a police spokeswoman in the morning.

Around 20 people are suspected. Among other things, they are said to have issued temporary workers from non-EU countries as EU citizens with forged identity documents and referred them to large German logistics companies.

Arrest warrants carried out

It is therefore being investigated for the smuggling of foreigners in a gang and for gainful employment, forgery of documents, organized undeclared work and illegal employment. According to the spokeswoman, there are searches in a total of ten federal states. The homes of the accused, business premises, logistics centers and the living quarters of employees are affected.
