Neptune, planet and god of the sea

0

Did you know that it is the only planet in our solar system that is not visible to the naked eye? Actually, it should not surprise us, since it is the furthest planet from the Sun. It is 30 times farther from our star than our planet and the solar energy it obtains is 900 times weaker than the one that reaches us.

It is a beautiful world. A great ice giant, inhospitable, but fabulous. Its average temperature is -200ºC, and a little warmer at its pole, enough for methane gas to prevent the area from freezing and to escape from the deep atmosphere.

Each year on Neptune lasts 165 Earth years.

It was discovered in 1846 by the German astronomer Johan Gotfried Galle while working on the theory of the French mathematician Urbain Le Verrier. Both believed that a certain planet, unknown at the time, was influencing the orbit of Uranus. Finally, they were able to accurately predict its position and, therefore, its existence.

Neptune has 14 satellites and is the fourth planet known to have rings.
