Netflix leaves us wanting: 'Forced mothers' will not have season six because it was canceled

Despite the fact that there is a wide catalog of entertainment to enjoy from home thanks to the various platforms that currently exist, there are still few series and movies in which we can see family life realistically reflected , particularly from the point of view of raising children.

That is why we were sorry to hear at the time the news of the end that ‘Forced mothers’, the late spin-off of the famous series ‘Forced fathers’. Although initially it was believed that it was because the story had come to an end, one of the protagonists has revealed that it was planned to make a sixth season, and it was actually canceled by Netflix without further explanation .

As we know, ‘Forced Mothers’ was the sequel to the popular series of the late eighties ‘Forced Fathers’ , where it told the story of a father who was left a widower with three daughters, who resorted to the help of his brother-in-law and his best friend to raise girls.

The plot of ‘Forced Mothers’ continued that story, in which now one of those three girls had already become an adult and mother of three children, when her husband died suddenly, causing us to relive the dynamics of’ Parents Forzosos’, as her sister and her best friend (and mother of a teenager) move in with her to help her raise their children .

While when it first launched on Netflix four years ago it didn’t get off to a fan-filled start, over time it became one of the most viewed Netflix original productions . And now, unfortunately it has come to an end.

On June 2, the fifth and final season of ‘Madres Forzosas’ concluded, as had been announced a few months ago. However, it was recently revealed that what initially seemed somewhat planned was actually just one more of Netflix’s multiple cancellations without explanation .

In an interview with Insider, actress and producer Candace Cameron-Bure, who played DJ on the series, commented that they initially planned to do six seasons, but Netflix changed their mind and closed it prematurely in the fifth season.

In addition, although there was a conclusion without leaving us waiting, she comments that she would have liked to see more about the history of that peculiar multifamily that shared the same roof , such as the growth of a new baby and the beginning of new relationships that are they could see in the last seasons.

Fortunately, last season he did his best to fire this “forced family”, but admittedly it would have been interesting to see how the family dynamics continued and changed with new tenants at home.
