A new catalog of fines, changes for corona-unvaccinated persons with wage replacement and higher fees with PayPal – many innovations will apply in November 2021.

Frankfurt – There will be many changes in Germany from November onwards. First of all, there is an already passed law on wage replacement for corona-unvaccinated people. In addition, a payment service introduces higher fees. And on the topic of payment, November 2021 also has something in store for passionate online shoppers.

Drivers should also drive particularly carefully from November onwards. Because the new catalog of fines comes into force. The reform of the fine includes not only tougher penalties for speeders, but also more expensive parking tickets. All innovations at a glance.

Innovations in November 2021: No wage replacement for corona-unvaccinated people in quarantine

At the end of September 2021, the federal health ministers of the federal states decided that unvaccinated people should expect loss of earnings in the event of a corona quarantine. This regulation was highly controversial. For example, SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach feared that fewer people could be tested as a result. The German Association of Towns and Municipalities also noted that those affected could take sick leave to avoid loss of earnings.

Jens Spahn defended the decision to abolish wage replacement for people without a corona vaccination in quarantine. This is a question of “fairness”. Those who did not get vaccinated would also have to bear the financial risk for it. The new regulations will apply from November 2021.

In the event of illness with the coronavirus, however, unvaccinated people do not have to expect loss of wages. Because then there is a case of illness, here the usual compensation payments apply. In which cases a quarantine for unvaccinated persons can be ordered, infektionsschutz.de, the information page of the Federal Center for Health Education, gives an overview:

  • A person from the same household tests positive for the coronavirus.
  • There was close contact with an infected person for at least ten minutes without protection from a corona mask.
  • Staying more than ten minutes with a sick person in the same room (regardless of distance and mask)
  • A flight of at least five hours with an infected person sitting in the same row or in the two rows in front of and behind.
  • When individuals return from a high risk or virus variant area.

This is new in November 2021: PayPal is increasing its fees

Paying via PayPal will also become more expensive in November. As the company announced, higher fees will apply to payments to and from the UK from November 10th. So far, 0.5 percent was due, this will increase to 1.29 percent after Brexit. This should make transactions internationally comparable, explained the group. PayPal benefited greatly from the boom in online trading during the corona pandemic.

Changes in November 2021: Black Friday and Singles Day start

Singles Day will take place on November 11, 2021. Its origin is in China, the number 1 is supposed to symbolize a person without a permanent relationship. Many use Singles Day to get to know new people at parties and online retailing has also discovered the day for itself. Amazon, Alibaba but also Mediamarkt and Saturn attract consumers with offers on Singles Day.

This is also the case on Black Friday. On November 26th, countless discount campaigns will take place in the various online shops. However, customers should not be rashly persuaded to buy. A price comparison is usually worthwhile to see whether the supposedly hot offers are actually bargains or whether they are just hot air.

New catalog of fines in November 2021: This is what drivers now have to deal with

The reform of the catalog of fines 2021 will also come into force in November. The Federal Council approved the changes on October 8th. From November 9th, harsher penalties for lawn and illegal parking will apply. If, for example, drivers are driving too fast in urban areas, the penalties are doubled in some cases. An overview:

Wrong parking is also becoming significantly more expensive. For example, if a car is parked on sidewalks or bike paths, up to 110 euros are due. The same applies when parking or stopping in the second row or on the protective strip. If parking is wrong in the fire brigade access zones, the fine is increased to 100 euros. If e-charging stations are blocked by parking, it will soon cost 55 euros. (slo)
