If Wisconsin Dells is the water park capital of the world, Noah’s Ark is its epicenter. It bills itself as “America’s largest water park.” That’s not because of attendance (that honor goes to one of Disney World’s water parks) or number of attractions (I think Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Texas has that distinction), but because of sheer acreage. At 70 acres, there is no denying that Noah’s Ark is huge. And while it may not have as many slides and attractions, it does have a ton of them.
Almost all the usual suspects are here – speed slides, lazy river, slides, etc., and there are plenty of them. Oddly absent from the travel lineup at Noah’s Ark is a funnel ride or a FlowRider surf attraction. But with two wave pools, numerous games designed for groups to enjoy together, and some terrifyingly harrowing slides, there are plenty of ways to get wet.
Or not. Perhaps more than any other water park, Noah’s Ark offers a surprising number of dry rides. His 4-D Dive-In Theater (nice name), for example, offers 3-D shorts mixed with sensory enhancements. There’s also the Curse of the Crypt dark ride, miniature golf, bumper boats, a kiddie roller coaster, and arcades. And while passengers (and nearby onlookers) definitely get soaked, it’s unusual to see a boat ride like Flash Flood at a standalone water park.
Noah’s Ark has a number of attractions, including Scorpion’s Tail, North America’s first near-vertical waterslide circuit, and Time Warp, a large bowl ride with special lighting effects. For sheer excitement, there’s nothing crazier than Point of No Return, a race-speed double slide that starts, swallows, 10 stories in the air.
