Meghan Markle has taken Prince Harry’s heart by storm. After almost two years of relationship, the couple stepped in front of the altar, which was apparently a thorn in the side of many. The couple is said not to have received the blessing of Diana’s family before their marriage.

London – Prince Harry (37) and Meghan Markle (40) apparently quickly realized that they wanted to go through life together. A year after they first met — a blind date in the summer of 2016 — the couple announced their engagement. Just six months later, the wedding bells were already ringing – a love affair that the royal relatives apparently doubted.

Harry and Meghan’s love has not been under a good star since the beginning

Since her resignation, Meghan and her husband have not had an easy time in the British royal family. However, behind the palace walls it is said that things have been brewing for a long time. In his new revelation book “Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors” author Tom Bower (75) not only illuminates Meghan’s life in the palace, he also throws a look back at the beginning of her relationship with Harry.

Princess Diana’s family (36, † 1997) is said not to have welcomed the new woman at Harry’s side with open arms – quite the contrary. As Bower reveals in his book, Lady Di’s family and friends have been critical of Meghan’s entry into the royal family: “Nobody agreed that his [Harry’s] vulnerable mother had anything in common with his girlfriend. Even more awkward for him was that they thought Meghan wouldn’t fit into the royal family.”

Princess Diana’s brother wanted to prevent a rushed marriage between Harry and Meghan

Meghan Markle had already met Diana’s sisters Sarah (67) and Jane (65) and her best friend Julia Samuel (62), but it was Diana’s brother Charles Spencer (58) who, according to Bower, trusted the then unmarried Harry should have turned. “At William’s request, Spencer intervened. […] Spencer warned his nephew to reconsider his haste to marry,” the British author makes clear.

Harry and Meghan have yet to comment on the investigative journalist’s explosive revelations. However, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II (96) could refute one or the other claim in his upcoming book. Prince Harry’s memoir, due out later this year, is highly anticipated.
