Berlin – The horror strip “Nope” by US director Jordan Peele (43) celebrated its German premiere on Tuesday evening – but without its maker. The Oscar winner (“Get Out”) had left the European advertising tour due to illness, it was said. Instead, the two main actors Daniel Kaluuya (33, “Judas and the Black Messiah”) and Keke Palmer (28, “Alice”) posed on the red carpet in front of the Berlin Zoo-Palast.
He personally prefers to watch horror films in daylight, said the British Oscar winner Kaluuya before the premiere of the German Press Agency. “I eat a lot of sweets to calm down. And turn off my phone so it doesn’t suddenly ring.” Palmer reports that she doesn’t get scared easily. “I love sitting there in the dark. At the cinema or at home. Best with a blanket so it’s cosy.”
Nope is actor, writer and director Peele’s third work, following Get Out and We. In the flick, which is a mixture of horror and science fiction, siblings OJ and Emerald witness a mysterious phenomenon in the sky.
