The strip is already leading the US cinema charts, and “Nope” will also be in German cinemas in August. However, one key person was missing from the premiere celebration in front of the Berlin Zoo-Palast.

Berlin – The horror strip “Nope” by US director Jordan Peele (43) celebrated its German premiere on Tuesday evening – but without its maker. The Oscar winner (“Get Out”) had left the European advertising tour due to illness, it was said. Instead, the two main actors Daniel Kaluuya (33, “Judas and the Black Messiah”) and Keke Palmer (28, “Alice”) posed on the red carpet in front of the Berlin Zoo-Palast.

He personally prefers to watch horror films in daylight, said the British Oscar winner Kaluuya before the premiere of the German Press Agency. “I eat a lot of sweets to calm down. And turn off my phone so it doesn’t suddenly ring.” Palmer reports that she doesn’t get scared easily. “I love sitting there in the dark. At the cinema or at home. Best with a blanket so it’s cosy.”

Nope is actor, writer and director Peele’s third work, following Get Out and We. In the flick, which is a mixture of horror and science fiction, siblings OJ and Emerald witness a mysterious phenomenon in the sky. The film went straight to the top of the US box office charts last weekend. In Germany, “Nope” starts on August 11th. dpa
