The Occidental Grill and Seafood Restaurant, a Washington, DC gastronomic landmark, reopened in 2006 to celebrate its 100th anniversary with an entirely new cuisine and a new classic American menu. The restaurant is renowned for its excellent food, service, and an extensive collection of photographs of famous personalities and portraits of 20th century Washington presidents of the United States.

Western menu highlights

The menu uses fresh ingredients to bring out the best seasonal flavors of the region, and with everything from light and classic fish selections to savory and aromatic game dishes. Sample dishes include: white asparagus on Frisee with a farm-fresh poached egg and black truffle hollandaise; Winter “Fowl” Terrine, a mix of organic chicken, quail, duck, pigeon, pheasant and foie gras, served with currant jam; Five Peppercorn Crusted Salmon with caramelised cipollini onion, roasted black and white sesame seeds and carrot ginger butter; Roasted Venison Tenderloin, crusted with fennel pollen and juniper seeds, served with Chestnut Flan with Maine Wild Blueberry Grappa Sauce.
