Oliveira: "In the rain the possibilities open up"

The Portuguese, who will leave KTM at the end of the course, precisely to make room for Jack Miller, the second finisher, took a small personal revenge by beating the Australian, who will leave him without his current seat to have to emigrate to the team Aprilia satellite.

For Miguel Oliveira, the wet conditions in which the Thai Grand Prix had to be held were favorable, as happened in Indonesia at the beginning of the course, when he achieved his first victory of the year in identical conditions.

“It was a race to not make mistakes, it was very easy to fall due to the conditions and the lack of visibility,” explained the winner as soon as the race was over.

“I’m very happy with the victory, another one in the wet this year, I got some flashes from the previous one, in Mandalika, I can’t complain if I go fast when it rains”, valued the rider.

Since his move to Aprilia was announced in 2023, KTM has stopped developing Oliveira’s bike and has focused on that of Brad Binder, his partner, so this victory has more merit for Miguel.

“I’m also very happy with the team’s work, in the dry I think we could opt for a top 5 or a little more at best, but in these conditions the possibilities open up for everyone.”

Oliveira has become a true specialist in the wet.

“I feel very good in these conditions and the team knows how I want the set-up bike and they made me a very good bike”.

Oliveira’s skill is focused on going fast from the start in the wet, when the rest of the riders are still testing the terrain.

“When it rains I find the limit of the bike very quickly and stay there being fast and without making mistakes”, revealed the Portuguese.
