Nefzer and his colleagues won the 2018 Academy Award for Visual Effects for their work on Blade Runner 2049, also directed by Denis Villeneuve.

Hans Zimmer celebrated his Oscar honors in a hotel bar in Amsterdam. The 64-year-old tweeted a photo of himself in a white terry bathrobe and holding an Oscar statuette, writing in English: “It’s 2am in Amsterdam and my daughter Zoë woke me up to go to the hotel bar. Wow!!”

Oscar for Troy Kotsur – acceptance speech in sign language

Kotsur is deaf and gave his moving acceptance speech in sign language. He especially thanked his father, from whom he learned sign language and much more.

Actress Ariana DeBose wins the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. The 31-year-old American was recognized for her performance in West Side Story. She plays the role of Anita in the Steven Spielberg musical. The show opened with a performance by artist Beyoncé.

In advance, the first guests arrived on the red carpet in Los Angeles. Among them were actor Will Smith, tennis icons Serena and Venus Williams and filmmaker Maggie Gyllenhaal.
