Tokyo – In view of the alarming infection situation in Japan, the organizers of the Paralympics are considering tightening the corona measures.

Compared to the time of the Olympic Games, the situation has worsened significantly, said Hidemasa Nakamura, head of the responsible department of the organizing committee, on Saturday. This increases the risk posed by Paralympics employees who live in Japan. Therefore, one is considering, among other things, more corona tests for employees who have close contact with the parathletes. A decision is to be made in this regard "as soon as possible," said Nakamura. The Tokyo Paralympics will open next Tuesday. As before at the Olympic Games, spectators are excluded, with the exception of schoolchildren. dpa
