Yvon Chouinard, the founder of the outdoor company Patagonia, wants to use his company’s profits only for environmental protection in the future.

On September 14, 2022, Yvon Chouinard released a statement announcing that his company would not go public, but would be transferred to a fund set up for charitable purposes. “Rather than extracting value from nature and turning it into wealth for investors, we will use the wealth Patagonia creates to protect the source of all wealth,” the statement said.
