The Mexican driver left behind the episode of the Canadian Grand Prix, where an accident on a wet track left him out of Q3, and in the British event, with a Silverstone circuit also wet, he was able to climb to fourth position.

Sergio Pérez, Red Bull driver, has gone from less to more in the qualifying session in Great Britain 2022 Formula 1 after improving his set-up, following the dynamics of the third free practice session on Saturday morning, where he was only behind the leader, his partner Max Verstappen.

With a wet track, the one from Guadalajara stayed on the circuit and survived until reaching Q3. In the first round he placed sixth, while in Q2 he advanced outside the top five, but with enough to reach the round of the 10 fastest,

In Q3, it was a struggle to constantly improve his time in the face of ever-evolving track conditions. His final lap of 1m41.616s saw him jump up to fourth to finish behind Charles Leclerc.

The Red Bull Racing Mexican’s time was 0.633 seconds slower than poleman Carlos Sainz.

“I think that the important thing about these conditions is to have a good starting place to be able to fight from there tomorrow,” Sergio Pérez said in statements to the Mexican network FOX Sports , at the same time that he pointed out that he could have made an improvement in his attempt.

“Without a doubt I would have liked to be further ahead. Looking at the weekend so far, it’s not a bad result, but I think we can fight from there,” added the Mexican, who returned to the path of the front rows of the grid.

Although fourth place did not leave him completely satisfied, he thinks that with a dry track on Sunday, fourth place gives him important opportunities to return to the podium: “We improved, and it will be positive to face the race”.
